Target) during the entire duration of the migration task run.<\/li>\n<li>A common temporary storage location is required for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/products\/sharepoint-migration\/dockit\/sharepoint-migration-tools\"><strong>XPlica<\/strong><\/a> application to share this workspace with the source and target server Quick Migrator Agents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Quick Migration task options<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Site Collections \u2013 Migrate site collections across SharePoint web applications.<\/li>\n<li>Webs \u2013 Migrate site or sub-web across site collections \/ sites.<\/li>\n<li>Lists\/Libraries &#8211; Name<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Firewall Rule type \u2018Port\u2019 has been selected and applied to<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong> \u2018TCP protocol\u2019 <\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong> \u2018Specific local ports\u2019. <\/strong><\/span> Options to either <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"> \u2018Allow the connection\u2019<\/span><\/strong> or \u2018Allow a secured connection\u2019 or \u2018Block a connection\u2019 can be chosen for a connection matching the conditional rule with the<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong> \u2018Action\u2019 <\/strong><\/span> option. The default option is \u2018Allow connection\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/protocol-ports.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"591\" data-lbwps-height=\"398\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/protocol-ports.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/protocol-ports.png\" alt=\"protocol ports\" width=\"591\" height=\"398\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This newly created rule applies to profiles \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"> Domain, Private &amp; Public<\/span><\/strong>. Also, a name is defined as \u2019Sample Rule for XPlica\u2019 with a description.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: medium;\"><strong><em>Task Options &#8211; Explained<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A Quick Migration task can be created in XPlica to migrate entire site collection, site, list\/library and folders. The Quick Migration task sub-options are categorized as below:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Migrating Site Collections, List\/Library &amp; Folder<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This option allows you to migrate entire site collection with all its sub-sites, lists, list items and their associated metadata, permissions.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source:<\/em> A site collection (e.g., <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><u>http:\/\/staging.testlab.local\/sites\/training<\/u><\/span>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Target:<\/em> An empty site collection (e.g., <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><u>http:\/\/prod.testlab.local\/sites\/mission<\/u><\/span>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Pre-requisite:<\/em> Empty site collection has to be created in target SharePoint, before migration.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Note:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You do not have to create SharePoint infrastructure like sites\/webs, lists, libraries, folders, columns, content types, templates, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Contents available (if any) in target SharePoint will always be overwritten.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u><em>Migrating Site or Sub-Web<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This option allows you to migrate a site with all its sub-sites, lists, list items and their associated metadata, permissions to another site collection \/ site.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source<\/em>: A site\/web (e.g. ,<u><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">http:\/\/staging.testlab.local\/sites\/training\/resource<\/span><\/u>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Target<\/em>: A site collection (e.g., <u><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">http:\/\/prod.testlab.local\/sites\/mission<\/span><\/u>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Behavior<\/em>: Specified site will be created as a sub-site under target SharePoint site collection \/ site, after migration. <span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Note:<\/u><\/strong> Contents available (if any) in target SharePoint will always be overwritten.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u><em>Migrating List \/ Library<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This option allows you to migrate a list \/ library with all its contents and their associated metadata across SharePoint sites.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source<\/em>: A list\/library (e.g., <u><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> http:\/\/staging.testlab.local\/sites\/training\/shared documents<\/span><\/u>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Target<\/em>: A site\/web (e.g., <u><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">http:\/\/prod.testlab.local\/sites\/mission\/resource<\/span><\/u>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Behavior<\/em>: Specified list\/library will be created in target SharePoint, after migration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><strong><u>Note:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You do not have to create list\/library and its columns in target SharePoint, before migration. Provides options for duplicate files (the files that already exists in target SharePoint).<\/li>\n<li>Permission associated with library and its contents will not be migrated. No provision to ignore sub-folders.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u><em>Migrating Folder<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This option allows you to migrate a folder in list\/library with all its contents and their associated metadata.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source<\/em>: A folder (e.g., <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><u> http:\/\/staging.testlab.local\/sites\/training\/shared documents\/testfolder<\/u><\/span>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Target<\/em>: A list\/library (e.g., <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><u> http:\/\/prod.testlab.local\/sites\/mission\/resource\/shared documents)<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Behavior<\/em>: Specified folder will be created as top-level folder in target SharePoint, after migration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><strong><u>Note:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You do not have to create list\/library and its columns in target SharePoint, before migration.<\/li>\n<li>Cannot migrate a folder to another folder in target SharePoint. Permission associated with the folder and its contents will NOT be migrated. No provision to ignore sub-folders.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Creating a new Quick migration task<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Launch XPlica Task Options dialog to select the desired task option for migrating the site collection, sites, lists, and folders, as given below:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/quick-migration-task.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"518\" data-lbwps-height=\"634\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/quick-migration-task.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/quick-migration-task.png\" alt=\"quick migration task\" width=\"518\" height=\"634\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Source &amp; Target Server User credentials<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Connect to the Source &amp; Target SharePoint site with the user credentials that has sufficient permissions to create sites\/lists and manage permissions in target.<br \/>\nEnsure the user account also has write access to the temporary storage location used by the migration task to temporarily export the contents and import from them into target SharePoint.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Batch Descriptor file<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prepare a batch descriptor file (CSV\/TXT\/XLS\/XLSX formats) that has the relevant details about source and target server site collection, lists, folders, as per your migration needs.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/sample-entries.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"720\" data-lbwps-height=\"395\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/sample-entries.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/sample-entries.png\" alt=\"sample entries\" width=\"720\" height=\"395\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Temporary storage location and Quick Migrator Agent info <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provide a suitable folder available as network share for exporting contents from source before migrating them to target server.<br \/>\nEnter the name of source and target SharePoint servers and port number under which the Quick Migrator Agent is running.<\/p>\n<p>Click \u2018Calculate Disk Space\u2019 to verify the available disk space in the temporary location for successful migration.<\/p>\n<p>The above mentioned information is depicted in the following image:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Figure #6: Batch descriptor file<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"697\" data-lbwps-height=\"499\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd.png\" alt=\"xplica task wizard\" width=\"697\" height=\"499\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">General settings<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While migrating entire site collection \/ site, you can migrate all contents or top level site structure alone with or without the contents. Likewise, all child objects, referenced images, layouts etc. can be migrated to the target server as required.<\/p>\n<p>In case of list migration, you can migrate entire list with their views, columns and it settings, but optionally with or without the contents.<\/p>\n<p>The available options associated with site collection\/site and list task sub-options are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Migrate all &#8211; All child objects including the web contents and its sub containers such as sub-sites, libraries &amp; lists).<\/li>\n<li>Migrate Top Site without content &#8211; Migrates only web properties, service containers such as galleries.<\/li>\n<li>Migrate Top Site only &#8211; Migrates the child objects excluding sub-sites and its content.<\/li>\n<li>Migrate all items \u2013 Migrates all objects including the contents, views, columns.<\/li>\n<li>Migrate list without items &#8211; Migrates all objects like views, columns excluding the contents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>Note:<\/u><\/strong> The last two options are applicable only for list migration.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>Figure #7: Migrating child objects with or without content<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd-general-settings.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"697\" data-lbwps-height=\"499\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd-general-settings.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd-general-settings.png\" alt=\"xplica task wizard general settings\" width=\"697\" height=\"499\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Version options<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can migrate select or entire version history by using the desired options, as mentioned below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All versions \u2013 to migrate all versions of a list item present in source<\/li>\n<li>Current version \u2013 to migrate the latest (current) version of a list item present in source<\/li>\n<li>Last major version only \u2013 to migrate the last major version of a list item available in source<\/li>\n<li>Last major and minor versions &#8211; to migrate the last major and its immediate minor versions of a list item present in source<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Library content settings (Handling duplicate file \/ documents)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The duplicate list item or file can be effectively handled by either \u2018Not overwriting\u2019 or \u2018Overwriting\u2019 or just \u2018Appending\u2019 as new version to the file using library content<br \/>\nsettings<span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Date and user information settings<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this step, you can instruct XPlica to retain the original created date and modified date and user information as in source during migration (OR) retain only the original date. In other cases, it assigns the current system date &amp; user account to the migrated content.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\nWeb parts<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During site collection \/ site migration, the web parts can either be included (migrates all web parts in the source site collection or site) or excluded (does not migrate all web parts in the source site collection or site) by choosing the relevant option.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Note: <\/u><\/strong> The web part assemblies need to be installed in the target SharePoint server in order for migrated web parts to work properly.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">User Security and permission settings<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can migrate user membership &amp; permission in terms of role assignments by using this step.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>Figure #8: Permissions migration<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd-user-security.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"695\" data-lbwps-height=\"500\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd-user-security.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-wizrd-user-security.png\" alt=\"Xplica task wizard user security\" width=\"695\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\"> Task settings<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The migration task can be scheduled to run at a regular time intervals (Daily, Weekly, Monthly and at time) by \u2018Creating a Schedule Task\u2019 or can be saved to <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"> \u2018Run later\u2019<\/span><\/strong> or <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong> \u2018Run immediately\u2019<\/strong><\/span> by clicking the<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Finish\u2019<\/strong><\/span> button.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>Figure #9: Scheduling migration task<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-setting.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"697\" data-lbwps-height=\"494\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-setting.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-task-setting.png\" alt=\"Xplica task setting\" width=\"697\" height=\"494\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Activity log<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This log gives information on the task status such as errors if any, the task settings, the migration results etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>Figure #10: Re-import task<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In case of any migration error, the migration task can be repeated using this Re-import wizard.<\/p>\n<p>Select those erroneous documents and re-import with the \u2018<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Retry<\/span>\u2019<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-re-import.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"708\" data-lbwps-height=\"337\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-re-import.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/images\/blogs\/xplica\/xplica-re-import.png\" alt=\"xplica re import\" width=\"708\" height=\"337\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: small;\">Cleansing Temporary storage<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The files created by the application during migration in the temporary storage can be removed once the migration task is complete.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about XPlica for SharePoint 2010, go to: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/products\/sharepoint-migration\/dockit\/sharepoint-migration-tools\">https:\/\/www.vyapinsoftware.com\/products\/sharepoint-migration\/dockit\/sharepoint-migration-tools<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How to use this new content migration feature?
